We all do things to ourselves that stop us from moving forward and living the life we envisioned. Sharon King, leading Women Event Speaker, is passionate about empowering women to celebrate their fabulosity. Her dynamic talks are intended to motivate and inspire women to embrace who they are. In her popular presentation, The Super Woman Syndrome, she shares some invaluable tips on what women should stop doing to themselves right now.
1. Stop surrounding yourself with the wrong people
Spend time with those who bring out the best in you, not the stress in you. Don’t fill your life with energy thieves, life is too short!
2. Stop putting others’ needs before yours
Sometimes we’re too busy making everyone else happy that we forget about our own happiness. First fulfill your own emotional and spiritual needs before you give to others.
3. Stop trying to be someone else – be yourself
Stop comparing yourself to everyone else, a friend, celebrity, colleague. Life would be boring if we were all the same. You are SPECIAL– different to anyone else.
4. Stop holding onto the past
You can’t move on with your life if you keep focused on the rear view mirror. The past is happened and it cannot hurt you anymore – you can only be hurt by your thoughts.
5. Stop being scared to mess up
Messing up or making a mistake can make us stronger and better. It helps us adapt to change, a very important life-skill to have in this fast-moving world.
6. Stop telling yourself you’re not ready
It is never the right time - we are never totally ready for something new – we will always feel fearful or anxious about a new challenge. Overcoming these feelings is what will lead to success.
7. Stop competing with others
Don’t compare your success with others. Your goals should be your own and you must focus your efforts on achieving them. Success is an internal struggle, it belongs to no one else.
8. Stop feeling jealous
It is a waste of time and energy to feel jealous of others. Be happy for other people’s success and you will be rewarded for it.
9. Stop the complaining
Life is hard– deal with it. Try this: Stop complaining for a whole day, then a week, then a month and you’ll see how your life begins to change!
10. Stop justifying yourself to others
Be genuine and authentic in everything you do. If you constantly have to explain yourself to people, then, they don’t get you. It is an energy-drainer.
11. Stop striving for perfection
A PERFECT person has never existed . Let go of the urge to be perfect all the time – you are only going to end up mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted.
12. Stop blaming others and take responsibility
Hold yourself accountable for your actions and acknowledge mistakes. This is a critical ingredient for success.
13. Stop trying to be all things to all people
It’s impossible to be everything to everyone all the time. Your only achievement will be stress and burnout. Don’t allow yourself to suffer from the disease to please syndrome.
14. Stop the constant worry
They say: “Worrying is like paying interest on money you never borrowed.”
Is what you’re worried about going to matter in a week, a month, or a years’ time? If your answer is no, then stop wasting your time and energy. Enjoy the present moment – it won’t happen again.
15. Stop thinking about what you don’t want to happen
Direct energy on what it is you want not the things you don’t want to happen. Form affirmations and visualizations of what you want your life to hold. You must have a dream for your dream to come true.
